Last-minute medical help

Airport Medical Centres and Pharmacies

Sometimes the hard part is not deciding whether help is needed. It is finding the clinic, first aid point or pharmacy inside a huge airport while tired, delayed or unwell.

Automated external defibrillator cabinet
For emergencies, use airport staff first. Ask airline staff, airport information, security or any assistance desk for medical help. Shortness of breath, chest pain, confusion, fainting, possible stroke, severe infection signs or rapidly worsening illness need urgent assessment, not a pharmacy search.

What to ask for

Use simple words at the airport.

Staff may know the route by service name rather than by clinic brand. Try the phrases below.

Medical centre

Doctor or nurse now

Useful for fever, chest symptoms, dizziness, wounds, vomiting, medication problems, oxygen concerns or uncertainty about fitness to fly.

First aid

Emergency response

Use for falls, fainting, possible stroke, severe pain, breathing trouble, confusion, bleeding, collapse or rapidly worsening illness.

Pharmacy

Forgotten medicines

Ask whether there is an airport pharmacy and whether it can dispense medicines. Some airport pharmacies sell only retail and over-the-counter items, or need a local prescription.

Airport map

Get escorted

If walking is hard, ask for wheelchair assistance to the clinic or pharmacy rather than trying to find it alone.

Travel clinic

Vaccines and tablets

For last-minute vaccines, malaria tablets, replacement prescriptions or new symptoms before a trip, search the destination city for travel medicine clinics as well as the airport.

Do not treat new breathlessness as a travel inconvenience. Shortness of breath can come from serious problems such as heart failure, pneumonia, a deep-vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, severe asthma/COPD, anemia, altitude illness or sepsis. If it is new, sudden, severe, associated with chest pain, fainting, blue lips, confusion, fever or one-sided leg swelling, ask for urgent medical help.

General questions

Use public AI only for general questions.

AI can help turn a worry into better questions for airport staff, a travel clinic or a doctor. Public AI tools are outside this site and may log account, device or IP information, so keep the question general and avoid names, birth dates, passport details, insurance numbers or a full personal medical record. Treat any answer as general information only until reviewed by a registered medical practitioner.

For urgent symptoms, ask airport staff for medical help first.

Hours can change. Treat this as a fast starting point, then confirm on the airport page, map desk, airline desk or airport emergency number.
